Want to gift your furry friend a spa day? Look no further than Purrfect Paws Pet Spa, a grooming service in Leland that is here to pamper your pet.

Owner Kelsi Kruse opened the spa’s doors in October 2023, using her knowledge of dogs from being around them all her life and her previous grooming experience. From bathing and deshedding to toothbrushing and nail-trims, Purrfect Paws offers a wide range of services to keep pets looking and feeling their best.

Born and raised in New Jersey, Kruse moved to Greensboro in 2008 to attend UNC Greensboro before moving to Brunswick County in 2011, wanting to be closer to family. She began working as a groomer in Leland in 2019 and fell in love with the area.

Kruse has been grooming in Leland since 2019. Before opening Purrfect Paws, she was a groomer at Splish Splash Dog Wash for four years and originally started her grooming career at PetSmart in North Myrtle Beach in 2015.

Before her years grooming, Kruse has spent her entire life around animals. Her mother showed and bred Pekingese dogs in New Jersey, so she spent quite a bit of time at dog shows getting to know various breeds as well as learning grooming techniques and skills from an early age.

She currently has three cats: Pickles, Steve and Nancy. Despite working with animals all day, she looks forward to having a dog in the future and still enjoys her kitty snuggles.

For Kruse, the most rewarding part of running this business is the relationships she builds with clients and their pets. With 20 years of combined experience, Kruse’s team is made up of animal lovers who cannot wait to spoil all the pets who come into their care.

“We treat all pets like they’re our own when they are in our care, and the bonds that come from that … it’s the best,” Kruse says. “When the pets are excited to come in for their appointment and are eager to come see us, it makes my heart so happy.”

Purrfect Paws strives to create a positive and relaxing experience for both pets and their owners. Despite inevitable days where there is a bit of chaos, Kruse and her team always aim for a calm and loving atmosphere.

Kruse’s dedication to her work and her passion for animal care truly show through in each and every pup that struts out of her doors.

“There’s something beyond empowering about opening a business as a single parent and watching it take off,” Kruse says. “I couldn’t be more grateful for all of my supporters and all of my wonderful clients!”
