The highly anticipated Cape Fear Marathon & Half Marathon, presented by Mount to Coast and organized by AdventureCORPS®, is set to take place on Bald Head Island, North Carolina, on Sunday, October 26, 2025. This event marks the second edition of the Cape Fear Marathon & Half Marathon, adding to the island’s reputation as a premier destination for endurance racing and outdoor adventure.

Experience the Scenic Beauty of Bald Head Island
Runners will begin their journey at the iconic Old Baldy Lighthouse at 10:00 am, with the unique opportunity to travel to and from the island via the Bald Head Island Ferry. Participants can choose between the full marathon (26.2 miles) and half marathon (13.1 miles), both of which take place entirely on the island’s car-free, one-lane roads, with a breathtaking stretch along the beach near Cape Fear. The finish line awaits at the marina end of the Timber Bridge, beside Jules’ Salty Grub & Island Pub.

Weekend Activities and Family Fun
For those planning to extend their stay, Bald Head Island offers a variety of family-friendly Halloween activities on Saturday. Visitors can also explore the Old Baldy Lighthouse and Museum, visit the Bald Head Island Conservancy, go kayaking in the nearby creek, or hike the maritime forest, making it a perfect weekend getaway.

Race Day Details and Support
• Racer Check-In: Jules’ Salty Grub will host check-in on Saturday evening (6:00–7:00 pm) and on race morning (8:30–9:30 am).
• Post-Race Party: All competitors and volunteers are invited to the official post-race party at Jules’ Salty Grub, featuring complimentary burgers and drinks.
• Aid Stations: Three well-placed aid stations will support runners throughout the course, including stops near Old Baldy, Beach Access 35, and the Bald Head Island Conservancy.
• Time Limits: The marathon has a 7-hour time limit, and the half marathon has a 4-hour limit.
• Registration: Open until October 20, 2025, at RunSignUp.com. No race-day registration will be available.

Community Partners and Conservation
The event is made possible with the support of the Village of Bald Head Island and the Bald Head Island Conservancy. Staff and volunteers from Bald Head Island Public Safety and Public Works will be on hand to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience. The Bald Head Island Conservancy, the official charity of the event, leads efforts in barrier island conservation and education. Participants are encouraged to support the Conservancy’s mission, especially as the race route passes through important sea turtle nesting sites.

Since 2014, AdventureCORPS has contributed over $150,000 to the Bald Head Island Conservancy, reinforcing the event’s commitment to environmental stewardship.
