Ready for School
Dosher Memorial’s Drive-Through School Supply Donation event is a success.
The third annual Operation School Supplies at Dosher Memorial on August 3 collected 773 donated items and $240 in monetary donations from generous supporters. Donated items included colored pencils, crayon boxes, markers, pencil pouches, notebooks, pens, pencils, scissors, erasers, three-ring binders, and glue sticks. All monetary and school supply donations were for the benefit of students served by Communities In Schools of Brunswick County.
This event was held in conjunction with the Communities In Schools annual Back to School Supply Drive, which takes place each August. For those still interested in donating, collection boxes can be found at Communities In Schools thrift shops throughout Brunswick County.
Dosher President and CEO Lynda Stanley said, “We are extremely grateful for our staff and community members who donated generously to ensure that our local students can return to school prepared to learn. This has always been a community that takes care of others in our community, as shown by the success of this event.”
CIS Executive Director Bonnie Jordan was thrilled with the outpouring of support for local students, sharing, “Equipping students with the tools needed to start a new school year is a critical first step in being prepared to learn. For families that struggle financially to provide the supplies their children need, these donations are essential. We are so very grateful for the support of Dosher Memorial Hospital and our generous community members!”
Communities In Schools of Brunswick County has been serving local students and families for the past 28 years, in partnership with Brunswick County Schools and other community partners. Its primary focus is dropout prevention.
