BCC Dedicates Building
Brunswick Community College dedicated the Dan and Linda Lynes Health Sciences Center, honoring their support for healthcare education and student success.
Brunswick Community College officially dedicated the Dan and Linda Lynes Health Sciences Center during a special ribbon-cutting ceremony held on campus Wednesday morning. The event brought together more than 100 guests, including Lynes family members, friends, community leaders, faculty, staff, students, and college supporters, all gathered to recognize a partnership that has helped strengthen healthcare education in Brunswick County.
The morning celebration featured remarks from Brunswick Community College President Dr. Gene Smith, along with Dan and Linda Lynes, whose continued support has made a lasting difference for students pursuing in-demand careers. Attendees also heard from Katie Caison, DNP, APRN, FNP-C, a former nursing student and Lynes Scholarship recipient, who spoke to the real-world impact that scholarships and mentorship can have on a student’s path to success. Following the program, guests enjoyed a reception, toured the facility, and viewed demonstrations showcasing the hands-on training that takes place inside the center.
While the Health Sciences Center has been serving students for several years, the dedication ceremony formally recognized the Lynes family’s generosity and the legacy they are building at Brunswick Community College. The college emphasized that a dedication represents more than a name on a building—it reflects a shared belief in education, opportunity, and community investment that continues to change lives.
For more than a decade, Dan and Linda Lynes have supported Brunswick Community College through scholarships, mentorship, and strategic investments that help students pursue healthcare careers and other workforce pathways.
Their commitment highlights the importance of giving students the resources they need to complete their education, enter the workforce, and return to serve local communities.
Today, the Dan and Linda Lynes Health Sciences Center is home to programs that prepare students for careers in Registered Nursing, Practical Nursing, Dental Assisting, Phlebotomy, Clinical Medical Assisting, and additional healthcare professions. The facility includes classrooms, state-of-the-art simulation labs, and practical learning environments designed to help graduates succeed in hospitals, clinics, long-term care facilities, and healthcare organizations across Brunswick County and beyond.
