Burkentine celebrates the grand opening of Beckington, a luxury townhome rental community, in Leland.

On July 11 Burkentine welcomed guests to the grand opening of Beckington, their new luxury townhome rental community in Leland.

Beckington features 143 townhomes with spacious three-bedroom, two-and-a-half-bath floorplans, kitchens with stainless steel appliances and granite countertops and many with a single-car garage. Other amenities include a community area with Adirondack chairs, hammocks, a spot for grilling and an abundance of greenspace with walking/biking paths and a dog park.

Bryan Burkentine, co-owner of Burkentine Real Estate Group, told the group gathered at the grand-opening event that the company chose Leland based on its convenient location off U.S. Highway 74 and its proximity to the greater Wilmington area. “But also for Leland’s personality,” he added, “artfully mixing downhome Southern charm with contemporary urban centers, providing something for everyone.”

Beckington is the first North Carolina location for Burkentine, and another is planned in 2024 in Wendell (near Raleigh). These North Carolina locations are a part of Burkentine’s Southeastern expansion plan, which includes communities in South Carolina, Georgia and Florida. Featured speakers at the Beckington event were Leland Mayor Brenda Bozeman and Dana Fisher, executive director of the North Brunswick Chamber of Commerce.

“I just want to thank everyone involved and let you know how much we appreciate you. Thank you for making my hometown your hometown,” Bozeman said.

Fisher commented that she was on site for the groundbreaking and was excited to be there for the grand opening. “Now I look at this beautiful development, and I want to encourage everyone here … if there’s someone you know who is looking to rent, this is the perfect place,” Fisher said.
