Kiwanis Club of Southport–Oak Island’s fundraising golf tournament is coming up on June 29.

Hey, area golfers, the children of Brunswick County – 41% of whom live in poor or low-income homes, according to NC Child – need you!

The annual Kiwanis Club of Southport-Oak Island golf tournament will be held Saturday, June 29, at the Lockwood Folly Country Club in Shallotte, with all proceeds used to support the many Kiwanis programs that serve area youth. The tournament is the club’s largest fundraising event.

The $100 per player cost to participate includes greens fees, a light breakfast, a catered lunch and free beverages on the course. For an additional $20, players can purchase a mulligan package, which can increase the ability to collect a post-match prize. Play begins at 9 am with a shotgun start.

Participants also can bid on numerous prizes donated by area businesses at a silent auction, which will be held during the luncheon.

Statistics indicate about 30% of Brunswick County’s children suffer from food insecurity and almost 65% receive free or reduced-cost meals in school.

The Kiwanis Club seeks to help the young people of our communities overcome the challenges they face so they can look forward to a brighter future.
