For the third year, Rivers Edge Veterans Association makes a donation for Brunswick Community College students.

Through another donation to Brunswick Community College Foundation, Rivers Edge Veterans Association (REVA) will once again provide scholarship support to a deserving Brunswick Community College (BCC) student. The deserving student must be a veteran, a family member of veteran or a descendant of a veteran, a Brunswick County high school graduate and have a GPA of at least 2.5. The student will be identified in early July during the BCC scholarship application process.

“The Rivers Edge Veterans Association (REVA) scholarship is awarded to a veteran or a family member of a veteran seeking higher education at Brunswick Community College,” says REVA Founder Nick Micale. “This is REVA’s third year awarding the scholarship to assist a deserving student.”

REVA is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization established by military veterans who are residents or property owners in the Rivers Edge golf community, located in Shallotte. Micale organized the group in September 2016 to form an association with a mission to foster camaraderie among Rivers Edge veterans and to give assistance to veterans in need via local veteran support organizations. Since its inception, REVA’s focus has been on improving the lives of local veterans and their families, including support for qualifying BCC students. REVA started the scholarship fund in 2019 because they felt there was a need to support veteran students. Members understand how difficult it can be to continue an education while starting a career and/or a family when they return to civilian life.
