With 12 holiday-themed events from December 1 to 13, The Town of Oak Island has something fun for everyone this season.

Tree Lighting Ceremony
When: Friday, December 1, entertainment begins 5 pm, tree lighting 6 pm
Where: Middleton Park Complex, 4610 E. Dolphin Drive
Cost: Free
Ages: All ages
About: Local music, crafts, Santa mailing station, a visit from Santa

Breakfast with Santa
When: Saturday, December 2, 8 to 10 am
Where: Community Resource Center, 102 SE. 47th Street
Cost: $8 Town of Oak Island residents • $10 nonresidents and visitors

Ages: Designed for ages 10 younger
About: Hang out with Santa and friends while enjoying a breakfast buffet, holiday crafts, and reading of “The Night Before Christmas.” Come in your favorite holiday attire for photos.

9th Annual Craft Market
When: Sunday, December 3, 10 am to 2 pm
Where: Middleton Park Complex, 4610 E. Dolphin Drive
Cost: Free
Ages: All Ages

Ornament Making

Ornament Making at Oak Island Nature Center

About: Bring your furry friends to Middleton Park Complex for photos with Santa Paws. All pets are welcome. Participants are responsible for their pet’s behavior and clean up while visiting the park. Oak Island Holiday Olympics: Let the Reindeer Games Begin!
When: Thursday, December 7, 5:30 to 7:30 pm
Where: Oak Island Recreation Center, 3003 E. Oak Island Drive
Cost: $30 Town of Oak Island residents • $40 nonresidents and visitors
Ages: Teams of 4 must have at least one participant under 18 years

About: Compete as a family, or with your favorite social circle, as Oak Island Recreation Center puts a festive spin on a variety on holiday-themed games. Teams work together to complete a series of challenges as they compete to win much coveted golden Santa hats! Teams have a minimum of four members with at least one member under the age of 18. Flashlight Candy Cane Hunt
When: December 8, 6:00 pm
Where: Bill Smith Park, 4446 Fish Factory Road SE
Cost: Free
Ages: Designed for ages 12 years and younger
About: Get out your trusty flashlight, and head over to Bill Smith Park to hunt for candy canes as well as green and red eggs that have been filled with holiday treats. This year’s hunt will be held on the park’s softball fields and football field, and will serve as a fantastic photo opportunity for ages 12 years and younger. Build Your Own Gingerbread House
When: Saturday, December 9, 10 am to noon
Where: Oak Island Community Resource Center, 102 SE 47th Street
Cost: $12 Town of Oak Island residents • $18 nonresidents and visitors

About: Build tasty homes using a variety of edible goods. Kits take approximately 30 minutes to decorate, making this drop-in program the perfect weekend adventure this holiday season. Pre-registration is required, and fees are per participant, per gingerbread house. Christmas Shopping At The Cotton Exchange: Featuring Over 30 Shops & Restaurants

About: Check out the Christmas magic along Wilmington’s Riverwalk with a shopping excursion to The Cotton Exchange. Brimming with unique shops and boutiques, travelers can find an array of items just in time for the holidays. For those not looking for gifts, The Cotton Exchange boasts a coffee shop, salon and more. Lunch is not included in registration fees but will be held at the Marina Grill.
