Nursing Student Support

General Federation of Women’s Club of the South Brunswick Islands provides scholarship support to a Brunswick Community College nursing student.

General Federation of Women’s Clubs of the South Brunswick Islands (GFWC-SBI) recently donated $1,000 to the Foundation of Brunswick Community College. This donation will provide scholarship support to a current nursing student enrolled at the college.

GFWC-SBI is a local chapter of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs (GFWC), which is one of the world’s largest and oldest non-denominational, non-partisan, international volunteer service organizations for women. GFWC-SBI has had a commitment to education since its inception as a charter member of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs, and the club continues to support the local community by offering scholarships to those in financial need. GFWC-SBI has awarded almost $50,000 in scholarships to students in the Brunswick community since 1988.

Many club members are nurses, and the club recognizes that there is currently a great demand for nurses throughout our country. In some areas, that demand has reached a point of crisis due to the shortage of qualified individuals to fill the needs of local communities.

GFWC-SBI is providing a $1,000 scholarship as a means of providing financial assistance to those seeking a career in nursing and attending Brunswick Community College. This annual scholarship will be offered as a one-time award to a deserving student. GFWC-SBI hopes that through this partnership and scholarship offering, more people will be encouraged to enter the nursing profession and provide a much needed service.
