by Oct 23, 2019Brunswick County Life

Nadia and Rick Howell, current Ocean Isle Beach residents share their story on how they ended up in Brunswick County

Where did you live before relocating to Brunswick County and what was your occupation?
We lived in Wesley Chapel, North Carolina, (Union County) near Charlotte. I am retired from Bank of America.

Why did you choose to move here and did you previously have friends or family here?
The beach was always in my future, and, yes, we have friends who owned on the island. We have vacationed in Ocean Isle Beach for many years and vacationed in North Myrtle before that.

What community did you decide to move to and why?
The Retreat at OIB. We love the low-key lifestyle and the fact our neighbors are permanent residents. We all look out for each other.

What is your job or what are your hobbies here?
My husband is a runner, and he loves getting up early in the mornings (5 am), running over the bridge and hitting the beach to catch the sunrise. I love playing with all of my friends who live here.

How long have you lived here?
We have lived here for 20 months.

Who built your home and why did you decide to build with them?
We chose Bill Clark because of the location.

What’s your favorite thing about southeastern North Carolina?
We love the climate, coast and the low-key lifestyle.
