MARSOC Foundation East Coast Golf Tournament

The second annual MARSOC Foundation East Coast Golf Tournament, hosted by Cape Fear Engineering and the Town of Leland, was held on May 6 at the beautiful Magnolia Greens Golf course to great success. The tournament raised $45,000 for the MARSOC Foundation! Golfers had the opportunity to play with the nation’s military heroes and thank them in person for their service in defending our freedom. Joe Apkarian, East Coast Ambassador for the Foundation and Visit Leland, w as again a primary sponsor. The tournament ended with a reception dinner that included claiming of door prizes and the live auction. Cape Fear Engineering, on behalf of RQ Construction and DPR Construction, would like to thank all of the sponsors, golfers and local community members who helped make this tournament possible.

MARSOC Foundation East Coast Golf TournamentDonations included weekend beach rentals by Laney Real Estate and Bryant Real Estate, signed and framed art from local artist George Murray and weekend golf outings at Ocean Ridge Golf, signed sports memorabilia from local NFL football kicker Connor Barth, UNC and NBA great Brad Daugherty, NASCAR driver AJ Almendinger and Professional Golfer John Daly. Warrior Custom Golf donated an entire set of their best golf clubs and a bag in honor of a fallen Army soldier. Many rallied to provide support for this event including local hotels, Holiday Inn Express and Westgate Inn & Suites, local beverage company RA Jeffreys and local restaurants.

The MARSOC Foundation was established to provide benevolent support to active-duty and medically retired MARSOC personnel and their families as well as to the families of Marines and sailors who have lost their lives in service to our nation. The foundation aims to meet needs unmet by the government with an emphasis on building personal and family resiliency and supporting the full reintegration of MARSOC Marines and sailors following wounds, injuries and extended deployments.
