Learn About the Great Backyard Bird Count
The 2021 Great Backyard Bird Count occurs from February 12 to 15, and you can learn more about participating at Museum of Coastal Carolina.
Watching birds is a safe and enjoyable individual or family activity during the pandemic, and all levels of birders are welcome to participate in the Great Backyard Bird Count. A yearly citizen science project in which people can watch, learn about, count and celebrate birds, the Great Backyard Bird Count is open to anyone.
Come learn what the Great Backyard Bird Count is, how you can participate and what local bird species you may see in the area by attending a workshop on February 13 at the Museum of Coastal Carolina.
This program will be presented by Jamie Justice, education coordinator for the Museum of Coastal Carolina and Ingram Planetarium. Justice received her bachelor of science in Marine Biology from Bowling Green State University and her master of science in Environmental Science with concentrations in Marine and Coastal Education and Coastal Management from the University of North Carolina Wilmington. Justice is originally from Portsmouth, Ohio, and moved to Wilmington for graduate school in 2017.
Before coming to the museum, she has worked in a variety of educational positions at summer camps and schools.
