Resident Showcase: Kelly and Kevin Littlejohn of Ocean Isle Beach
Kelly and Kevin Littlejohn share their story on how they became residents of Ocean Isle Beach
Where did you live before relocating to Brunswick County and what was your occupation?
We moved here from Springfield, Illinois, where Kevin was a sales vice president for Horace Mann Insurance. I had a Jazzercise Fitness Center, but was mostly a domestic engineer.
Why did you choose to move here and did you previously have friends or family here?
Kelly grew up in Gloucester, Massachusetts, and Kevin in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. We met and married in Orlando, Florida, and a new job with Allstate Insurance took us back to Chapel Hill, where our three daughters were born. After countless more relocations, our last stop was in Springfield. We chose to come back to North Carolina because it was where we were the happiest, and at the time two of our daughters were in Greensboro.
What community did you decide to move to and why?
We chose to move to The Retreat in Ocean Isle Beach. There were many reasons, but we definitely wanted to be closer to The UPS Store we own in Shallotte and to be closer to the beach. On June 1 we were able to open a second UPS Store in Ocean Isle Beach next to Publix. We live within walking distance to our new store!
What is your job or what are your hobbies here?
Besides running the two UPS Stores, Kevin loves to golf, Kelly loves to bake and we both enjoy going to the beach and riding bikes.
How long have you lived here?
We have lived here 18 months.
Who built your home and why did you decide to build with them?
When we came to the model home and spoke to Debbie Dorset, we were convinced this was the neighborhood for us. The well-built construction, personal service from Debbie, Patrick and the design team, the option of floor plans, the lots that were available (at that time) and yard care included secured our decision.
What’s your favorite thing about southeastern North Carolina?
After Kelly grew up in Massachusetts and we spent six years in Illinois, the beautiful weather is one of our favorite things.
