Get Ready for Market
Sunset Beach Summer Market kicks off Thursday, May 6.
Pure Markets is proud to announce that the Sunset Beach Summer Market will return bigger and better after a tough 2020 COVID season. Opening day is Thursday, May 6 from 9 am to 1 pm. The weekly market will be held at Silver Coast Winery during the month of May. The market will return to Sunset Beach Town Park as soon as the town allows.
Among what’s new this season will be fresh vegetables from Angie’s Fresh Produce in Southport. They will offer a huge selection of produce from their farm and from farms of small area growers. In addition, they will have a wide variety of locally produced canned goods.
Also new, coming in the end of May, will be Blondiez Donuts, made-to-order donuts fresh from their food truck. They will introduce their truck at the Memorial Day Holiday Market at Silver Coast Winery on May 29.
There will be new garden art by Susan Hoke, organic skin care products by Lou’s Organic, macrame jewelry by Layne Price, fine art by Parks McAllister and Bev Evans.
Handmade wine totes and handbags by Lynne White will be available at some but not all markets. Also new this season are My Dani Bags, repurposed items by Kathy Rymer and beach art by Kassie Keher. More vendors are being added daily, says Pure Markets co-owner and manager Chris Wilson.
Back again this year will be some familiar faces that shoppers have enjoyed seeing and buying from year after year. Big Sam and Joe will be back to replenish visitors’ supply of salad dressing and pickles. Attending again this year are pottery favorites, award-winning photography by Gary Baird, original handmade jewelry, wellness products, organic lotions and potions, handmade pillows, handmade soaps, original art, baked goods, hand squeezed lemonade, healthy, homemade snacks and salsas, jams and mild and hot sauces.
Finally, there will be wood art, plants, shell art, handmade doll clothes, PVC birds, glass art, handmade candles, local authors and so much more.
The market will surround the winery as it did for the recent Spring Market and last year’s Holiday Markets. Silver Coast Winery will open its doors early, at 10 am, on market days only. Shoppers once again will be able sip wine as they shop, buy cases of wine, schedule a wine tasting and tour inside the winery or enjoy a snack from a vendor. Visitors can also relax with a glass or bottle of Silver Coast’s award-winning wine on the winery’s shaded patio. It’s a great opportunity to make it a day of fun and relaxation with your friends.
Pure Markets will again support Brunswick County School Children through their BeKIND Project.
In 2019 Pure Markets was able to donate $6,000 to Brunswick County Schools for their student funds. Reusable straws will be offered for a donation at the lemonade stand, donated items from vendors will be raffled, the popular Giving Tree will return at holiday markets, and Sunset Beach historic photos will be offered for a donation.
Pure Markets is looking for food trucks to attend weekly. Any food truck vendors interested should contact Pure Markets. All products sold at Pure Markets are Handmade, Homemade and Homegrown.
