Are you searching for a fun and educational summer activity for kids in Brunswick County? The Brunswick County Extension Master Gardener℠ Volunteers invite families to join their Backyard Bee Hotel Workshop on Friday, July 11, from 10:00 a.m. to noon at the NC Extension Office, 25 Referendum Road, Building N, Bolivia, NC.
Why Attend the Backyard Bee Hotel Workshop?
Pollinators like bees are essential to our gardens, food supply, and environment. This hands-on workshop is perfect for children ages 5–12 (with an accompanying adult) who want to learn about the different types of bees and their vital role in pollination. Kids will discover how supporting bees helps strengthen our local ecosystem and food sources.
Workshop Highlights
• Date & Time: Friday, July 11, 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
• Location: NC Extension Office, 25 Referendum Road, Building N, Bolivia, NC
• Cost: $30 per child (includes all supplies)
• Who Can Attend: One adult may bring up to two children (recommended ages 5–12)
• Spaces Available: Limited to 18 child/adult teams – register early to secure your spot!
• What’s Included: All materials for decorating a bee hotel, printed educational resources, and expert guidance from Master Gardener volunteers
• Bonus: Optional guided tour of the Brunswick County Extension Demonstration Gardens after the workshop
Children will get creative by decorating their own bee hotel to take home, providing a safe space for native bees in your backyard. All activities take place indoors, but painting is involved—so dress for mess!

Advance registration is required, and spots fill quickly. Register now on Eventbrite to reserve your place. The workshop fee is $30 per child, which covers all supplies and take-home materials.
