Dosher Memorial Hospital begins site preparations for its new Emergency Department, with completion expected by the end of 2025.

Dosher Memorial Hospital has begun site preparations for the construction of its new 8,000-square-foot Emergency Department (ED), which will stand on the corner of E. 9th and N. Howe streets in Southport. The new Emergency Department will be more than double the size of the existing ED, will feature more beds and improved workflow, and enhance the types and level of care received through the use of innovative treatment tools such as vertical chairs for lower acuity patients. Completion of the building is expected by the end of 2025.

“We are excited to begin our Emergency Department build,” says Lynda Stanley, Dosher president and CEO.

“However, these renovations are more than buildings. They represent our commitment to care for our local residents and to contributing to the health and wellbeing of our patients for years to come.”

The building of the new ED is part of Phase 1 of Dosher’s seven-year Master Facility Plan. All capital improvement projects included in Phase 1 were paid for through community tax dollars, leaving Dosher in a strong financial position to continue to invest in talent, programs and equipment to support the quality care that patients expect from Dosher.
