Culinary Arts Scholarships
Bella Cucina donates $10,000 to support culinary arts students at Brunswick Community College.
The McAndrews family, owners of Italian restaurant Bella Cucina in Southport, have donated $10,000 to the Foundation of Brunswick Community College. The donation will support scholarships for students enrolled in culinary courses at the Douglas Terhune Center for Culinary Arts, located on the campus of Brunswick Community College.
Tom McAndrews III, general manager at Bella Cucina, says, “We were thrilled to attend the grand opening of the culinary arts program in early fall 2021. We immediately realized the positive impact the center will have on the local restaurant industry and thought we could help. By making this donation to the BCC Foundation in support of culinary arts, we hope to advance student participation, provide skilled labor to local restaurants and improve food safety.”
Elizabeth Wassum, executive director of BCC Foundation, says, “We are very excited to receive this scholarship from the McAndrews family as the culinary arts program at BCC is growing. The Continuing Education/Workforce Development staff continues to field calls from people interested in the program, from those who want a career in culinary arts to the casual cook who wants to learn new techniques.”
Culinary arts courses begin January 10, 2022, and scholarships are available.
