BCS Principal of the Year
Congratulations to Dr. Steven Sullivan of North Brunswick High School!
Steven Sullivan, principal of North Brunswick High School, has been named Brunswick County Schools 2021-22 Principal of the Year.
Sullivan is a graduate of the school he now serves. He graduated from North Brunswick High School in 1981 and went on to receive his bachelor of arts degree from UNC Chapel Hill. He earned his master’s degree at Troy State University and his doctor of education degree from Nova Southeastern University.
Sullivan served in the United States Air Force as a Chinese linguist from 1986 to 1991. He began his career in education in 1992, teaching high school English and coaching basketball and baseball in North Carolina and Florida. He served as an assistant principal from 2000 to 2006 and has worked as a principal from 2007 to present.
Being named a Principal of the Year is nothing new to Sullivan.
Earlier in his career he has been named Pender County Schools Principal of the Year and New Hanover County Schools Principal of the Year. Brunswick County Schools Superintendent Dr. Larry Oates surprised Sullivan with the announcement at the September 7 Board of Education meeting.
