BCS Air Purifiers Progress Report

Air purifier installations are in progress in Brunswick County Schools’ buildings and buses.

In an effort to improve school safety, Brunswick County Schools is in the process of installing ionized air purification systems in school buildings and buses. The ionized air purification system, called Needlepoint Bipolar Ionization Technology, inactivates and deactivates pathogens and reduces the volume of harmful pathogens including the coronavirus and SARS-VoV-2.

The systems connect to existing HVAC and air-conditioning units.

As of Friday, March 5, Brunswick County Schools says 15 buses have been updated and they will continue at a rate of installing the systems in 15 buses a week. There are about 150 buses in the fleet.

Four weeks into the project, installation at the following schools is complete:

South Brunswick Middle
South Brunswick High
Lincoln Elementary
Belville Elementary
Leland Middle
Waccamaw School
Town Creek Elementary
Town Creek Middle
Union Elementary
Virginia Williamson Elementary
Supply Elementary
