Sunset Beach Summer Market will be held at Silver Coast Winery on Thursdays this year.

New this year is the temporary relocation of the market from the Sunset Beach Town Park to Silver Coast Winery. Sunset Beach Town Council has temporarily cancelled events in the town due to COVID-19 concerns and Governors Cooper’s regulations.

In support of local small businesses, MaryAnn Azzato, owner of a Silver Coast Winery, offered use of land at the winery for the market so vendors could get back to work.

“This is a difficult time for small business owners, it up to all of us to support each other,” Azzato says, adding that Silver Coast is closely following Governor Cooper’s coronavirus guidelines. Hours of operation for the winery have been limited to Tuesday and Wednesday from 12 to 3 pm, Thursday from 12 to 4 pm and closed on Monday. Wine tastings are available by reservation only. She says that the winery will return to regular hours once restrictions are lifted.

The popular Summer Market will feature favorite vendors from past seasons as well as some first-time vendors. Farm-fresh produce will once again be available. Vendors will offer wellness products, pottery, handmade jewelry, original art, award-winning photography, natural body products, local honey, dog treats, beach decor, kettle corn, fried pretzels and much more.

Shoppers will have an opportunity to visit the market, then walk the short distance to the air-conditioned winery when it opens at noon. There they can purchase their favorite wines by the bottle or case. Better still, they can make reservations for a wine tasting.

Pure Markets owners Jim and Chris Wilson say every effort will be made to provide a safe market environment.

“Vendors will wear masks when interacting with customers, hand sanitizers will be available at every booth, and booths will be spaced 10 to 15 feet apart to encourage social distancing,” Jim says. In addition, no food samples will be available, vendors will sanitize their displays regularly and hand sanitizers will be used after every transaction. “We hope that shoppers support our safety measures by practicing social distancing and wearing a mask,“ he adds.
