A Bite of Booze

Start your next party with an aperitif that packs a punch of sweetness and a nice little surprise.
I have the perfect little boozy and festive bite for your next get-together, and it’s served in a martini glass so you can eat your drink.
A far cry from my college days of soaking cherries in Everclear and choking down what felt like rubbing alcohol, these elegant sugared grapes are macerated in Prosecco and vodka overnight for a beautiful presentation and delicate bite of booze.
I was recently invited to a recipe swap party in my neighborhood and was very excited to attend. Upon entering the host’s home, we were greeted by her son (who’s over 21) serving plastic cups full of grapes. I took a cup and walked to the large, bright open kitchen where everyone seemed to be perched on a strategically placed barstool.
I walked to the corner and took my seat. I looked down at the grapes, and they seemed to have been rolled in sugar. I picked one up and popped it in my mouth, and to my surprise it packed a punch of vodka and sweetness — this wine lover was pleasantly surprised!
I quickly realized everyone was talking about the deliciously crisp, clean and well-balanced grapes. It was a creative and exciting first recipe swap. Needless to say, it was a successful event.
I like to serve these in martini glass for an elegant presentation, but you are welcome to use whatever glass or serving tray or even toothpicks for your serving. Any way you serve them, they will be a hit at your next brunch, party or celebration with family or friends.
