WSGA 2019 Amateur and Mid-Amateur Championships
Lockwood Folly Country Club is proud to host the Women’s Southern Golf Association’s 104th Amateur and 5th Mid-Amateur Championships June 3-7, 2019.
Volunteer Chairmen (pictured) and their committee members are working closely with the WSGA, the Head Golf Professional and the Superintendent as they prepare for 96 amateur female golfers from 15 southern states and the District of Columbia to compete in this prestigious event.
According to the Local Chairman, Gayle Todd, “The level of commitment of the WSGA, the Lockwood Folly staff and our volunteers will make this week an unforgettable experience for the participants and their families. The support of the entire local community has surpassed all expectations in making sure our guests are welcome, comfortable and prepared to play their best.”
Eric Morgan, Lockwood Folly Head Golf Professional, said, “The excitement is building as the entire staff prepares to welcome and assist the WSGA in bringing this high caliber of lady amateurs to our club. Many golf partners throughout the Carolinas are supporting us as we get ready to make this a memorable time, not only for the participants but for our entire community.”
Tim Cunningham, Lockwood Folly Superintendent, said, “Like most area courses, Hurricane Florence took many of our trees, caused some significant drainage issues and closed our course for 16 days. However, we were able to take advantage of the disaster to remove trees and provide healthy grass growth throughout the course, plus identify and correct drainage concerns. With the good weather, we are on goal for spring manicures to promote perfect growth and deliver an outstanding product for the WSGA ladies. “
Admission is free for the public to attend and watch these ladies compete for these coveted titles. The Oak & Anchor Restaurant will be offering a 10% discount of food throughout the tournament.
